What operating system does PDFMoto require?

PDFMoto requires Windows NT 4.0, (service pack 6a or later), or Windows 2000 Advanced Server or Windows XP.

What Web Servers is PDFMoto compatible with?

PDFMoto can be used with any web server that support asp, jsp or php scripting. Microsoft's IIS and Apache are two examples.

Can PDFMoto run on the same machine as the web server?

Yes provided the web server is a Windows version.

Can I run PDFMoto without a web server?

No.

What does a client computer need to view a PDFMoto site?

To view a PDFMoto site you need a standard browser and Adobe's Acrobat reader or equivalent.

What browsers is PDFMoto compatible with?

PDFMoto is designed to be compatible with Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 4 or greater and Netscape Navigator version 6 or greater.

Can I use the browser based document submittal on a Mac or UNIX workstation?

No. Currently the browser based document submittal is only available to users running windows workstations.

Can I search a PDFMoto site?

Yes. PDFMoto can be configured to publish textural data that can be indexed by standard search engines. In addition, if you are using Microsoft's IIS and Microsoft's Index Server you can download a special file from Adobe that makes allows PDF files to be indexed directly.

What happens when I delete a document from a Document Library source

Answer: When you delete a document from a PDFMoto Document Library source, PDFMoto will delete the published version of that document from the web site. See also

Can I run PDFMoto as a service or how do I run PDFMoto unattended?

No. You cannot currently run PDFMoto as a service. If you would like to run PDFMoto unattended, you must do as follows:

  1. Log in as administrator.
  2. Configure PDFMoto and set Document Library schedules as required.
  3. Lock the Workstation (activate Task Manager by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del, then selecting "Lock computer", or "Lock Workstation" depending on your Operating System).

PDFMoto will then continue to run on it's schedule whilst the server is locked down and unauthorised users will not have access.
